SHOTOKAN KARATE
Shotokan Karate
Our program was founded in 2011 by Ryan and Tyler Podzikowski, second-degree black belts and students of Ken Higa. We offer classes for youth of all ages and experience levels. We are a non-competitive dojo that focuses on the training aspects of Karate – mainly Kihon (basics), Kata (form), and Kumite (sparring).
Shotokan Karate was intended by its founder to not only strengthen the body but also to strengthen the mind and will of the student. It is a field of study that takes time and commitment.
Through our classes, students not only refine their techniques but also gain virtues such as discipline, perseverance, respect, and self-confidence. These qualities serve as pillars upon which they can build a resilient and well-rounded character that will serve them far beyond the confines of the dojo. Our class theme encapsulates the philosophy that underpins the art of Karate:
“The ultimate aim of Karate
lies not in victory or defeat,
but in the perfection of the
character of its participants.”
